Bye bye BMW Hello Mini Van!!

I watched a young girl drive off in my little black BMW today:( It was one of those moments where time stood still as I held my 11 month old child and said goodbye to my car that held so many memories. I know 6 years isn't super long, but that car has been everywhere since we have been married. It traveled to 11 weddings in one year all along the East Coast. However, I looked at Matthew and smiled so big as we walked towards MY BRAND NEW HONDAY ODYSSEY!!! The doors open up and I plopped him right in... then I envisioned myself putting two more infant seats in there and I started to laugh. I asked Matt if I was still a "hot" mom driving the mini van- of course he said yes:) It has every tool/gadget you could need as a busy mom. I really do love it!!!

Excuse the bare belly- but here is my enormous belly for 14 weeks! I can't believe how fast the twins are growing. I had planned on posting a pic with my shirt down, but somehow it got deleted off the camera and I was too tired to take another one. I think I was this big with Matthew at like 20+ weeks. And as most of you know, we found out they are little boys! So my reign as Queen Bee still holds in the Ham House!

Matthew's dedication at church!

Matthew was dedicated at church on Saturday, along with his cousin Cooper. It was a really neat service, our church focuses on the the bible verses from the old testament where God demands us, as parents, to carry a legacy so that our children's children will know God. We were allowed to discuss questions and get feedback from our family who attended also. We were fortunate to have my mom, Mary Grey and Derrick, and Grandma Ham at our table. (Mark, Katy, Doug and Susu were out of town). My mom actually spent half the time at our table and half the time at Laura's. We also got to pray over Matthew and for his dedication to God. We are so fortunate to have both been raised in a christian home and have these values instilled in us. We hope that God will give us strength to parent Matthew towards Him each and every day.

Bald Head for the Day!

We ventured over to Bald Head Island for the day on Saturday and had a great time. We took the ferry from Southport over to the island and it was beautiful on the water! We rented a golf cart and cruised around all day. Matthew was a trooper and napped on Grandpa Duke's lap while riding and didn't even shed a tear all day. We even ran into Wilmington friends and they invited us over for a drink on the porch. I really enjoyed my ice water, as everyone enjoyed a cold beer:) They were lifesavers and even gave Matthew a snack (I ran out of food- way to go Mom). We stopped on the way back at a pizza shack and I think I ate more than everyone. Not unusual these days, as the Dr. told me to consume 1000 extra calories a day and to gain weight.
Ok.. ladies... go ahead and hate me... he also gave me orders to eat ice cream every day! Enjoy the pics- wish I could post more.

11 weeks along with Twins!

I am so excited to be pregnant with twins and just wanted to share a few of my thoughts, praises and concerns! That's what a blog is for anyways right?:) I started feeling really nauseous around Mother's Day weekend and thought I had eaten something bad. I woke up that Monday morning and thought this is what I felt like pregnant with Matthew- let me just take a test. Sure enough, it lit up positive in like 2 seconds. I didn't believe it, because I had gotten so many false ones while trying to conceive our 1st baby. We called Dr Cooper, our fertility doctor who helps us with Matthew, and they did a blood test to confirm. The shock came when I went in for an ultrasound and he found TWO heartbeats instead of one. I started crying and say "are you joking?". Matt almost hit the floor and here is sweet 9 month old Matthew in the stroller just smiling. The doctor was so happy because he had seen me in there for 2 years trying to get me to ovulate just once. And here I had just naturally conceived identical twins!
(By the way- we did the math and looked at a calendar- they are definitely Maui babies! (Until we find the sex, we are calling them Maui and Wowie- inside joke from Hawaii.)
Just like with Matthew, I have been super nauseous. It has been very challenging to care for Matthew who is into EVERYTHING. Most mornings and evenings are the worst. I don't feel like eating anything, especially anything healthy. I have driven through many fast food rest. to grab something to eat- so unlike me:) I pray that it will not last that long and I will gain some energy. However, the doctor said that I will be twice as tired carrying two babies.
I could allow myself to be very overwhelmed with the thought of having 3 babies under 16 months, but I am taking one day at a time and trusting that God will give us the strength and wisdom for what is ahead. We are so blessed and excited about our soon to be family of 5! Thank you for all prayers.
